Just over the Aurora city line in Mantua isd the best blueberry patch in Northern Ohio. Pick your own blueberries. They are hanging like bunches of grapes right now.

Take Rt 82 east past Yogi Bear Park and turn left on Frost Rd and right on Winchell Rd.

Just follow the signs. Tell’m olive sent you.

Ex-Arabica in Aurora becomes Quagliata’s latest creation

A big name in Cleveland dining is bringing the distinctive tastes of Tuscany to Aurora.

Carl Quagliata, who already bounces back and forth between his classic Giovanni’s Ristorante in Beachwood and Casa Dolce, a bakery with prepared foods in Mayfield Heights, is reworking a former Arabica coffee house near Ohio 82 and 43 as Cafe Toscano.

The place will seat about 60 with a small full-service bar for lunch and dinner, takeout or dine-in. If you recall his former Tuscany at Eton Chagrin Boulevard in Woodmere, envision a more upscale version of that, he said.

The menu is still in the works, but expect an array of sliced lunch meats and cheeses, pizza and pasta, roasts and such rustic dishes as lamb shanks and osso buco (braised veal shanks). Look for Cafe Toscano to open in mid to late July.

Beavers Visit Moebius Nature Center Pond Willow Trees!

This morning while out for an AM hike I discovered that beavers were on the move at Moebius Nature Center. Based on conversations with staff, the beavers presence in the area is a new development. Time will tell if this is a transient beaver, or one or more planning on staying put at the pond. A roll of 4 ft wide poultry wire has been puchased in an effort to protect the historic row of willow trees the beaver has damaged. www.moebiusnaturecenter.org
